The solid of Malcolm Washington’s Netflix movie The Piano Lesson — John David Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Fisher, Danielle Deadwyler, Michael Potts, Corey Hawkins and Erykah Badu — will obtain an Ensemble Tribute on the 2024 Gotham Awards ceremony, the Gotham Movie & Media Institute introduced Wednesday.
This honor — and various others nonetheless to be introduced — will likely be offered throughout a gala dinner celebrating the thirty fourth annual Gotham Awards at Cipriani Wall Road in New York on Monday, Dec. 2.
Recipients of the Ensemble Tribute, which was first launched in 2005 “to acknowledge gifted casts whose artistry and chemistry captivate audiences on the massive display,” have included The Damage Locker, Babel, Winter’s Bone, Moonlight, The Favorite and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
“The Piano Lesson is a surprising adaptation, bringing August Wilson’s play to life with fascinating cinematic artistry,” Jeffrey Sharp, govt director of The Gotham Movie & Media Institute, mentioned in a press release. “The exceptional expertise, effort and chemistry of this good ensemble solid types the guts of the movie, elevating its touching story of household legacy. It’s exactly this sort of collaborative excellence that our Ensemble Tribute goals to acknowledge.”
The Piano Lesson, which had its world premiere on the current Telluride Movie Pageant, will likely be proven in choose theaters beginning Nov. 8 after which will change into accessible to stream on Netflix on Nov. 22.
