Pete Hegseth signalled ‘important shift’ in US China coverage, says ex-Pentagon official



Chad Sbragia, former deputy assistant secretary of defence for China, informed a safety discussion board in Beijing on Wednesday that the language Hegseth used throughout a name together with his Chinese language counterpart Dong Jun was “unprecedented”.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell mentioned Hegseth “made clear that the USA doesn’t search battle with China neither is it pursuing regime change or strangulation of the PRC [People’s Republic of China]” in his first direct talks with Dong.

“That’s very distinctive language. That’s unprecedented by a secretary of defence to say that publicly,” Sbragia, who served beneath Donald Trump throughout his first time period, informed the Xiangshan discussion board.
